Because of the long history human beings have had with plants in their space, one would think that by now everyone would be good at taking care of them. Additionally, do not use water with contaminants in watering them because this will be poison to them. You should only use spring water or rainwater to keep them hydrated. When you are using pots without drainage holes, you can place an absorbent material at the bottom before filling the pot with soil. You can use charcoal, stones, pebbles or even peanuts. However, water penetrates finer particles better which means you need a material finer than soil. A lot of potting soil is made by combining sand, clay and silt. Of all this, the clay particles are the finest which is why you should go for that to make the filter base. Do not forget how important it is to prevent drowning of the potted plant. You also have to prune your plants. This should be done annually. The need is greater when the temperatures drop. Pruning eliminated the sickly, unhealthy and weak branches. By pruning the indoor plants, you will avoid the top-heavy effect or the lopsided look. By pruning, you prevent the risk of the plant collapsing.
